Nothing better than telling the beans to go outside and pick their own vegetables for lunch. Makes me feel good as a mama to watch their little feet hit the floor running to see who can pick theirs first!
You may remember our barn...
The barn got freshened up with a couple coats of paint and the clematis "Victor Hugo" is now climbing my homemade coat hanger trellis.
A new addition is making me sing and go figure it's orange! Butterfly weed paired with Blazing star in the front sun garden.
Hemlocks, Blackhaws, Green Mountain Boxwoods, Rose of Sharon and Little Princess Spireas filling in along the patio.

He is SO cute - and Victor Hugo looks very handsome against the new paintwork. Your garden is looking gorgeous. Now I'm going to grab a slice of watermelon from the fridge (I had been thinking of a bar of chocolate, so your post has done wonders for my eating habits!)
ReplyDeleteHow good is that! My kids can be picky about eating veggies but when they are let loose in the vegie patch they will happily eat handfuls of fresh snowpeas, sugarsnaps, cherry tomatoes... Can't wait for summer

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post!! Some of my favorite memories are Picking the veggies with my grandma from her garden. There is nothing better than raising kids on home grown goodness! Your sweet little guys curls are adorable, and watermelon...yum!

ReplyDeleteI have fond memories from childhood of picking beans and eating raspberries in my mother's garden. I am sure the little beans will have similar memories of your garden and that may in turn encourage them to do the same for their own children.

ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, how nice that you can sent your kids out to pick the veggies for lunch! I am sure it will leave a special experience in their memory and heart. It definitively did in mine. My parents didn't have a garden when I was little, but my grandparents did. I remember picking peas, raspberries, and currants as if it was yesterday. The ultra fresh taste of the peas, the sweet tartness of the berries, the smell of the soil, the warm sun on my skin, insects buzzing around... It was just magical!

Beautiful! I LOVE the coat hanger trellis! And my little guys love eating watermelon too. We call the back step the "watermelon spot." So much neater than eating inside. :)
